13.07.05 - Last House on the Left Remake
Yup, another remake... anyone would thing they can't be arsed anymore. Wes Craven is looking for a director to direct a remake of Last House on the Left according to The Horror Channel
Quote:
So, who wants to step up? Huh? Anyone? Anyone dare to come forward and remake Wes Craven's depraved early '70s classic Last House on the Left?

Producers Sean Cunningham and Wes Craven are looking for a visionary, apparently. As it stands, Craven is currently overseeing Alexandre Aja's The Hills Have Eyes retread. If Craven's doing that, then why the hell not remake House, right?

Dread Central has received word that a director is being sought to helm a redux penned by screenwriter Mark Haslett for New Line Cinema. The log line for Haslett's approach sticks close with the source material focusing on two young girls who venture in to the big city and are kidnapped by some deranged individuals. Their family then seeks revenge in, according to our source, a "haunted house." I don't think that's literal...well, let's hope not.

Haslett, as the IMDB tells us, was part of the development staff behind Freddy vs. Jason and Jason X. You can't take this news fully expecting a film that will vaguely resemble the raw power of the 1972 original. There are way too many hands in the pot when it comes to filmmaking these days, never mind the looming presence of the MPAA.

Whether New Line finds their man (or woman) remains to be seen. Just know there's a script for the remake out there...
