Scott Weinberg writes: "Only the most ardent horror hounds will remember a 1987 shocker called "Anguish," but "When a Stranger Calls" screenwriter Jake Wade Wall is apparently one such horror hound. The guy's been tapped by Universal to deliver a new version of the fairly obscure Spanish chiller.
According to Variety, "Original film, helmed by (Bigas) Luna, was a horror-movie-within-a-horror movie. As an audience in a small theater watches a pic about an optometrist on a killing spree, a maniac begins killing the moviegoers. Wall has also penned "The Hitcher" for Rogue Pictures and Platinum Dunes and "Amusement" at Picturehouse."
