THE EYE remake: Lionsgate has picked up the American remake of Hong Kong thriller THE EYE out of turnaround from Paramount and is negotiating with Jessica Alba to star reports Variety. The original film told the story of a cornea transplant recipient who sees disturbing images in the mirror that send her on a quest to find out what happened to the eye's previous owner.
Cruise/Wagner persuaded Paramount to buy the remake rights in 2002 and got close to making it with Renee Zellweger. When Zellweger dropped out, the studio dropped plans to do it. French helmers David Moreau and Xavier Palud to direct, and shooting is slated to begin at year's end. Alba would make THE EYE once she wraps work on the FANTASTIC FOUR sequel.
