As quickly as it began, the end result over the "hot coffee" modification for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has come. Rockstar has ceased production on the current versions of the title due to a recent change of rating from "M" for Mature, to "AO", for Adults Only. Production will begin again once the offending material has been removed completely. There's also a patch being offered by Rockstar that will block the hot coffee mod.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board concluded it's investigation by saying that the content exists in a fully rendered, unmodified version of all three ports of the original game. While the content was never meant to be unconvered by the public, the ESRB issued a statement saying "Considering the existence of the undisclosed and highly pertinent content on the final discs, compounded by the broad distribution of the third party modification, the credibility and utility of the initial ESRB rating has been seriously undermined."
While Rockstar is currently making a revised version of the game, they are offering AO stickers for retailers to put on current games that haven't been sold as of yet. Meanwhile, the ESRB is requiring all companies submit ANY content within the game, whether or not it's intended for the end user.
