04.08.07 - Rockstar launches appeal over Manhunt video nasty
Good on them, this whole ban is daft. its reactionary to the paper's false claims (libel, essentially) that the first game was the cause of a murder a year or so back. Actually it had absolutely nothing to do with it.
Quote:
Take-Two Interactive has filed an official plea for an appeal of the BBFC's ban of Manhunt 2. The ban was originally announced on June 19th, at which point it was stipulated that the company had six weeks to file an appeal.
The Video Appeals Committee will now hold a hearing in which both Take-Two and the BBFC will present arguments, and a demonstration of the game will be shown. They should be a lot more successful now that they've implemented those graphical changes, right? We wish them the best in being allowed to release their game.
If I rem correctly, the murder case in question, it was actually the poor kid who got killed who owned the game, NOT the murderer. Which makes this ban all the more feeble.
