08.03.09 - MPAA fighting piracy: Night Vision goggles, audio
Maybe they should concentrate on making their blockbusters a little
less shit?
Quote:
The latest anti-piracy technology can do away with the need to provide night-vision goggles to theater employees so that they can search for
persons using camcorders or cell phones while a movie is playing. The technology involves automatically placing an audio "watermark" on the film
when a camera is detected in a theater. When the film is played back, the system discloses the seat that was being used while the camcording was
in progress. The website TorrentFreak noted, however, that in order to have a suspect arrested, the theater must create a database including
information about who is sitting in each seat. In a related development, the MPAA has released a study titled "Film Piracy, Organized Crime, and
Terrorism," claiming that mobsters and terrorists support their activities by bootlegging films.
yeah gangsters and terrorists don't bother with drugs, weapons and such anymore, there's just no money to be made in them, now they just make their lucrative illegal monies from crappy pirated dvds, oh yeah also those ugandan princess spam mails, an untapped resource for the criminal underworld.....

Yes, finally, someone says something! RE-Animator is already a great movie, no need to butt-rape it with a remake,
it is already freaking sweet!

I don't have a problem with the night vision goggles, tbh. theaters and studios have every right to prevent people from recording movies in their theaters. it's a lot more cut 'n' dry than the bullshit intellectual copyright stuff they're spewing about still owning the movie when a customer buys the dvd. you buy a ticket, do whatever you want with that ticket. you can do more with the dvd, however.
I used to think that the guys filming the movie with a camera are those who are responsible for projecting the picture onto the wall. Best requirements for getting the work done, if you ask me.
