ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK remake: Breck Eisner (THE CRAZIES remake) has signed on to direct the remake of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK for New Line Cinema. Based on John Carpenter's 1981 classic dystopian sci-fi actioneer, the story follows convict Snake Plissken who must undertake a daring rescue mission to retrieve the U.S. President after Air Force One crash-lands on Manhattan Island - a city that has become a walled-off maximum security prison. Allan Loeb penned the most recent script which combines both the original film's storyline and a new origin story for Snake. The studio is still targeting a 2011 release at last report.
