Plot:
Producer Howard Hawks' adaptation of the John Campbell story of an arctic expedition that runs afoul of a blood sucking alien is often credited (or blamed - depending on who you talk to) with launching the evil monster tries to destroy humanity films that were so prevalent in the 1950's.

Comments:
This is the original movie, to which was later remade by John Carpenter under the same name. Whilst this original is by no means a bad film, it is simply out classed by John Carpenter's 80s remake (which, given the quality of the remake would been the same unless this original was something really special). This is a cool enough film in its alright, one for scifi and horror fans alike!
