Comment One of the better Cronemberg movies, and really, that's exceptional given the quality of his movies. This early movie is of the same style as his other early movie, shivers, all though not as claustrophobic.
The movie has the patented display of physical decay and mutilation consistnat through all of his movies, the "new flesh" as some call it. Here it takes on the persona as a rampant sexual parasite that is passed on from one victim to another, and misidentified as a case of rabies. Unlike Shivers, the pandemic spreads into larger areas with a 'post apocalyptic' clean up in progress.
Interesting and appealing, this is a fine movie, a b-movie in feel, but past the flakey acting and budget, this is pure cronemberg, effective horror to the end.

Ripped from the remastered US special edition DVD. The sound wasn't that great originally as to deserve an ac3 release, so I decided to go for 1 CD this time. The commentary track is mono in order to preserve the best possible audio and picture quality. No subs on the DVD.
