Based on the Bram Stoker Award nominee short story by cult author Joe R. Lansdale, Bubba Ho-tep tells the "true" story of what really did become of Elvis Presley. We find Elvis (Bruce Campbell) as an elderly resident in an East Texas rest home, who switched identities with an Elvis impersonator years before his "death", then missed his chance to switch back. Elvis teams up with Jack (Ossie Davis), a fellow nursing home resident who thinks that he is actually President John F. Kennedy, and the two valiant old codgers sally forth to battle an evil Egyptian entity who has chosen their long-term care facility as his happy hunting grounds.
At last, I've been waiting a while for a horror film this good. Bruce Campbell (of Evil Dead fame) buts on a beyond top-class performance, completemented by a brilliant performance by Ossie Davis. The story is great, but its the acting and characters that you can't get over... top class writing.
The writing is top class stuff.
Extremely entertaining from start to finish!
Unfortunately, quality of this is very watchable, but this is not up to DVD standards. This is a DVD-screener, meaning that there are screener messages (irregular and non-intruding) but also a timer in the rop right. Screeners are designed for previewing for companies wishing to purchase and sell the movie in their stores.
