Plot:
A botched bust on a pair of arms dealers inadvertantly leads to the raising of a sixty-six-year-old demon with the power to bring toys to life as his personal minions. The demon is looking for a body to inhabit so he can increase his powers, and it just so happens that one of the police officers is pregnant with the ideal host. As the murderous toys close in on their victims, the officer must not only fight for her life, but for the soul of her unborn child.

Comments:
When you realise the company behind this (Full Moon) is also the same people who put out Puppet Master you know exactly where you stand. The killer doll sub-genre has always been a popular one, psychologically it makes sense that the childhood playfulness of toys coming to life, could be twisted to something darker.

With the success of Child's Play, these types of films peaked, and some of the horror production companys tried to cash in, with Full Moon capitalising on the somewhat dissapointing Puppet Master. This was another attempt by the same company to tap into the evil toy genre, with mixed results.

The story and feel of the film is unlike either, this one is grittier and gorier than the other mentioned movies, but unfortunately its not as good, and has no way near as much impact as even the flawed Puppet Master (and delivers far more ham). I would still recommend to those looking for a movie to fill up a space in a horror marathon though.

This, however, is not up to the standard of the best movie in this particular sub-genre, that being Child's Play. Unfortunately at the time of writing, it is unavailable on DVD in the uk (although all its controversial hit and miss sequels are, Child's Play 2 and 3 were 'banned', or more accurately removed from circulation, after being unjustly scapegoated for the Buldger killings by the media. Bride of Chucky is the most recent and very popular sequel)
