A psychic private detective who consorts with deceased souls becomes engaged in a mystery as members of the town community begin dying mysteriously. While investigating, he is aided by a friendly doctor who believes in his psychic abilities and is hindered by a crazed G-Man, a woman involved in an old serial killing, and what may be the spirit of Death itself.

This is the very rare, very cool Director's Fun Cut that is only available on a very limited, and very expensive Laser Disc. This rip comes courtesy of a LD->VHS capture by INFECT.
Well here it is, The Frighteners: Director's Cut, containing 12mins of extra
footage that you can't find anywhere but on the limited edition Laser Disc.
This rip comes from the pDVD that is doing its rounds, which unfortunately means
its not a direct rip, but from a Laser Disc to VHS to DVDr transfer. Luckily,
quality is excellent with this considered. Ignore the video bitrate you see,
this encode, although long, doesn't look substantially different from the source
and as a result, and considering the lower quality nature of the source, a 2cd
rip would be excessive. The bitrate does not accurately reflect the quality in
this case. The source also seems slightly over cropped at the bottom but
unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about that :-(
We should be releasing the 4hr documentry to follow up this cut of the movie
so movie fans keep an eye out for that. Gives a lot of insight into the movie,
as you can imagine from four hours of footage. To support this release, we've
included the one hour documentry from the first disc. It's quite an interesting
view and talks you through the various storyboarded scenes.
